¡Felicitaciones a Gabriela Vázquez, Thomas Corredor, Juliana Penagos y Sara Valdez!

In the Wet Media course, Eleventh Grade students have worked on the Thematic Strand of Art and Culture over Time by analyzing works of prominent artists from different eras. Throughout this project, students have examined pieces by renowned painters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Joaquín Sorolla, Franz Marc, and Pablo Picasso, among others, in a journey that connects them with various periods and movements in art history.
For this exploration in painting, students focused on the Learning Skill within the Thematic Strand of Art and culture over Time:
“Argumentation through various digital media, using references from art history in painting, from the Renaissance period (the Quattrocento) up to the second half of the 20th century.”
For this activity, students examined multiple aspects of each artist, such as their historical and cultural context, the visual elements of their works, the themes or messages they aimed to convey, as well as their own impressions and preferences. Based on a diverse list of painters from different eras and styles, prepared by their teacher, students had the opportunity to go deep into art from a broad and reflexive perspective.
This project has also fostered the development of Global Competencies in the students, who have researched and analyzed artists from various parts of the world, understanding their perspectives and communicating their own conclusions (Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives and Communicate Ideas). This research serves as a reflection of diverse cultural, historical, and social realities, enriching their worldview and knowledge.
As part of their learning, students presented their analyses to their peers, receiving feedback through the AVIS protocol.
The students in this elective course will continue their artistic practice by recreating a work from the mentioned painters, to which they will add their own personal creative touch, whether through elements, symbols, colors, or other personal details.
Congratulations to Gabriela Vázquez, Thomas Corredor Juliana Penagos and Sara Valdez!
