Ángela Aguirre Fiorenza, exalumna destacada del Colegio Rochester de la promoción de 1995, ha tejido una trayectoria impresionante como emprendedora, escritora y filántropa. Desde su graduación, Ángela ha dedicado su vida a inspirar cambios significativos a través de su fundación LOVENET y su prolífica carrera como escritora. En esta entrevista, nos comparte cómo su formación en el colegio fue fundamental para su éxito y su incansable misión de servicio.
Mi experiencia en el Colegio Rochester marcó gran parte de mi camino de vida. Llegué con tan solo 4 años y me gradué cuando tenía 18, por lo que tengo recuerdos muy especiales de esa época: desde mi primera amiga, aprender a leer, enfrentar la adolescencia, hasta formar amistades entrañables que aún conservo. La formación que recibí continúa influyendo positivamente en mi vida.
El enfoque humanístico del colegio fue crucial para desarrollar mi creatividad y curiosidad por explorar y ayudar a crear un mundo mejor. Tuve la oportunidad de experimentar las artes, lo cual, junto con maestros ejemplares, influyó en diferentes momentos de mi carrera.
Sin duda, Iliana Aljure sembró semillas importantes en mi corazón. Me enseñó a ser un espíritu libre y a amar las artes y las humanidades. También recuerdo con cariño a mi primera profesora, Miss Mariela Medina, quien nos acogió con tanto amor a los 4 años que me lleva a pensar que Dios utiliza ángeles en la Tierra para grandes misiones.
El Colegio Rochester me inculcó un gran sentido social a través de sus dinámicas de servicio, lo que sin duda influyó en la creación de mi fundación social. Ese enfoque humanístico me ha permitido ver el mundo con más compasión y con un ímpetu especial para lograr cambios en comunidades vulnerables.
Hay tres habilidades que adquirí en el colegio que han sido fundamentales en mi carrera: la capacidad de relacionarme con el entorno de manera segura y fluida, el compromiso con mi vida y mis proyectos, y el enfoque de excelencia que me enseñaron a seguir para alcanzar mis sueños.
El respeto por todas las formas de vida que aprendí en el colegio fortaleció mi conciencia ambiental y mi compromiso con causas como el apoyo a la etnia Wayúu. La conexión con la naturaleza y el enfoque holístico del Rochester me ayudaron a desarrollar una mayor sensibilidad y compasión por los demás.
Siento que el colegio nunca formó solo alumnos, sino líderes. Aprendí que para liderar a otros, primero hay que liderarse a uno mismo. Esa habilidad ha sido fundamental en mi vida personal y profesional.
Mantengo vivos los lazos con mis compañeros del colegio, quienes son mis grandes amigos de la vida. Nos hemos reunido en ocasiones especiales y procuro nutrir esas relaciones constantemente. Mi consejo es ser uno mismo quien toma la iniciativa de reunir a los amigos, sin esperar a que los demás lo hagan.
El Colegio Rochester ha evolucionado para adaptarse a los desafíos del mundo actual, lo que me hace sentir aún más orgullosa de ser parte de esta gran familia. Hoy, la institución está formando líderes que contribuirán a enfrentar los retos globales, especialmente en términos de sostenibilidad y relaciones humanas.
Ángela Aguirre: From Rochester College to the World, Inspiring Change and Leadership

Ángela Aguirre Fiorenza, an outstanding Rochester High School alumna from the class of 1995, has woven an impressive trajectory as an entrepreneur, writer and philanthropist. Since graduation, Angela has dedicated her life to inspiring meaningful change through her LOVENET Foundation and her prolific writing career. In this interview, she shares with us how her formation at the college was instrumental to her success and her tireless mission of service.
My experience at Rochester College shaped much of my life's journey. I arrived when I was only 4 years old and graduated when I was 18, so I have very special memories of that time: from my first friend, learning to read, facing adolescence, to forming close friendships that I still have. The education I received continues to positively influence my life.
The school's humanistic approach was crucial in developing my creativity and curiosity to explore and help create a better world. I had the opportunity to experience the arts, which, along with exemplary teachers, influenced different moments in my career.
Without a doubt, Iliana Aljure planted important seeds in my heart. She taught me to be a free spirit and to love the arts and humanities. I also fondly remember my first teacher, Miss Mariela Medina, who welcomed us with so much love when we were 4 years old that leads me to think that God uses angels on Earth for great missions.
Rochester School instilled in me a great social sense through its service dynamics, which undoubtedly influenced the creation of my social foundation. That humanistic approach has allowed me to see the world with more compassion and with a special impetus to bring about change in vulnerable communities.
There are three skills I acquired in school that have been fundamental in my career: the ability to relate to my surroundings in a confident and fluid manner, the commitment to my life and my projects, and the focus on excellence that I was taught to follow in order to achieve my dreams.
The respect for all forms of life that I learned in school strengthened my environmental awareness and my commitment to causes such as supporting the Wayúu ethnic group. The connection to nature and Rochester's holistic approach helped me develop a greater sensitivity and compassion for others.
I feel that the school never formed only students, but leaders. I learned that to lead others, you must first lead yourself. That skill has been fundamental in my personal and professional life.
I keep alive the bonds with my schoolmates, who are my great friends in life. We have gotten together on special occasions and I try to nurture those relationships constantly. My advice is to be the one who takes the initiative to bring friends together, without waiting for others to do so.
Rochester College has evolved to adapt to the challenges of today's world, which makes me even more proud to be part of this great family. Today, the institution is forming leaders who will contribute to face global challenges, especially in terms of sustainability and human relations.
