“Hopes for Endangered Pink Dolphins†by Pablo Gonzalez – Ninth Grade

Students of 9th grade in their English Speech and Composition class made a great effort to submit assignments beyond the competent level. For the assignment called Environmental Problem and Solution, the work of Pablo Gonzalez Pachon was outstanding because, in a timely manner, he achieved 5 learning expectations: identifying logical errors and spurious statements in everyday situations such as political speeches or debates about the environment, advertisements, news releases, and pamphlets, responding thoughtfully and respectfully to diverse perspectives while summarizing points of agreement and disagreement, expressing or justifying own opinions and understanding with reasons and evidence, and demonstrating creativity and innovation to make new personal and global connections in light of the evidence and reasoning presented. 

Pablo also demonstrated mastery level when teaching others how to identify and ask significant questions that clarify various points of view, demonstrate an understanding of the interconnections among systems, and lead to better solutions for problems. Pablo also communicated effectively and appropriately in a multilingual environment using the target language and taught others to do so in an appealing podcast.

To conclude, Pablo developed and self-evaluated his writing by engaging in a writing process to plan, draft, edit, revise based on feedback, and publish, focusing on addressing what is most significant for a specific purpose and audience. Pablo also taught fellow students the path to accomplish all of the above as can be evidenced in the following essay: Congratulations Pablo!
